Introductory Studies for Office Administrators

A practical 2 to 4 week course covering the real work of running an office properly: organisation, communication, records, meetings and professionalism. As you go, you build a real admin playbook for your own workplace, not a generic exercise.

"Most office administration knowledge gets passed on informally, or not at all, people are handed the role and left to work it out themselves. This course teaches the fundamentals properly, and has you build the real systems your own workplace needs."

How it works

Pay and you're in within a minute. Five sections, each with practical content and a "build your own" step that adds to your final playbook. Most people take about 2 to 4 weeks at a comfortable pace, a section every few days; some move faster, some slower. Either works.

1

Organising the Office & Setting Priorities

What an office administrator actually does, prioritising under pressure, and starting your own workplace playbook.

2

Business Communication & Customer Service

Professional written communication, handling calls and visitors, and customer service under pressure.

3

Document Management & Recordkeeping

Building a filing structure that actually works, plus retention and confidentiality basics.

4

Managing Meetings & Resources

Running meetings that produce something, minutes people actually use, and basic resource coordination.

5

Digital Literacy & Workplace Professionalism

The digital tools every office admin needs, and presenting yourself professionally at work.

Your Certificate of Completion isn't automatic. It's issued once your submitted final playbook has actually been reviewed, usually within a few working days.

Common questions

Is this an accredited qualification?

No, this is a practical, non-accredited short course. It doesn't carry NQF credits on its own. If you want a formal accredited qualification in office administration, KASI's full Occupational Certificate: Office Administrator (SAQA 102161, NQF Level 5) is the next step, currently working through QCTO accreditation.

What do I actually submit for the certificate?

A short, real admin playbook for your own workplace: your recurring task list, a communication standard, a filing structure, a meeting/resource process, and a digital tools and professionalism checklist. You build it section by section as you go, then submit it as one document at the end.

Do I need existing office administration experience?

No. It's written for people starting out. If you're already studying or working in the field, you'll move through it faster and can go deeper on your own playbook.
